Section 255 — Administrative Review Tribunal Act 2024: Period of appointment

General rule (1) An appointed member holds office for the period specified in the instrument of appointment. The period must not exceed 5 years. Exception—appointment for specified project (2) An instrument appointing an appointed member may state that the member is appointed for the purpose of taking part in a project specified in the instrument that is being, or is to be, undertaken by the Council. (3) If an instrument appointing an appointed member contains such a statement: (a) the member is to take part in the project and has the rights of a Council member only for the purposes of taking part in the project; and (b) despite subsection (1), if the appointment has not ceased under subsection (1) and has not been terminated under section 261—the appointment ceases when the Chair of the Council certifies, in writing, that the Council has finished the project.
