Section 143 — Competition and Consumer Act 2010: Time for commencing defective goods actions

(1) Subject to subsection (2), a person may commence a defective goods action at any time within 3 years after the time the person became aware, or ought reasonably to have become aware, of all of the following: (a) the alleged loss or damage; (b) the safety defect of the goods; (c) the identity of the person who manufactured the goods. (2) A defective goods action must be commenced within 10 years of the supply by the manufacturer of the goods to which the action relates.
