Section 193 — Competition and Consumer Act 2010: Repairers must comply with prescribed requirements

(1) A person commits an offence if: (a) the person accepts from another person goods that the other person acquired as a consumer; and (b) the goods are accepted for the purpose of repairing them; and (c) the person does not give to the other person a notice that complies with the requirements prescribed for the purposes of section 103(1). Penalty: (a) if the person is a body corporate—$50,000; or (b) if the person is not a body corporate—$10,000. (2) Subsection (1) is an offence of strict liability.
