Section 250 — Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999: Adding marine species to the list

(1) The Minister must not add a marine species to the list unless: (a) the Minister is satisfied that it is necessary to include the species in the list in order to ensure the long-term conservation of the species; and (b) the species occurs naturally in a Commonwealth marine area. (2) Before adding a marine species to the list, the Minister must consult with each Minister who has an interest in a Commonwealth marine area where the species occurs naturally.
