Section 399 — Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999: Identity cards

(1) The Minister must issue to an inspector an identity card in a form approved by the Minister, containing a photograph of the person to whom it is issued. (1A) Subsection (1) does not apply in relation to an inspector who is: (a) a member of a police force; or (b) an inspector by force of paragraph 397(1)(b); or (c) an officer of Customs. (2) If a person stops being an inspector, the person must immediately return his or her identity card to the Minister. (3) A person who contravenes subsection (2) commits an offence punishable on conviction by a fine not exceeding one penalty unit. (4) For the purposes of this Act, a requirement for a person who is an inspector by force of paragraph 397(1)(b) to produce his or her identity card is satisfied if the person shows his or her identity card issued under section 45 of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975.
