Section 789AC — Fair Work Act 2009: Objects of this Part

The objects of this Part are to eliminate exploitation of outworkers in the textile, clothing and footwear industry, and to ensure that those outworkers are employed or engaged under secure, safe and fair systems of work, by: (a) providing nationally consistent rights and protections for those outworkers, regardless of whether they are employees or contractors; and (b) establishing an effective mechanism by which those outworkers can recover amounts owing to them in relation to their work from other parties in a supply chain; and (c) providing for a code dealing with standards of conduct and practice to be complied with by parties in a supply chain.
