Section 196 — Paid Parental Leave Act 2010: Waiver of debts—arising from offence

The Secretary must waive the right to recover so much of a debt as arises from an offence, if: (a) the debtor is convicted of the offence; and (b) the court indicated in sentencing the debtor that it imposed a longer custodial sentence on the debtor because he or she was unable or unwilling to pay the debt.
