Section 1061ZI — Social Security Act 1991: Duration of newly arrived resident’s waiting period

If a person is subject to a newly arrived resident’s waiting period, the period: (a) starts on the day on which the person first became an Australian resident or a special category visa holder residing in Australia; and (b) ends when the person has been both: (i) an Australian resident or a special category visa holder residing in Australia; and (ii) in Australia; for a period of, or for periods totalling, 208 weeks.
