Section 1177 — Social Security Act 1991: Interpretation

If: (a) a person is liable to make a compensation payment to another person; or (b) an authority of a State or Territory has determined that it will make a compensation payment to another person, whether or not it is liable to make the payment; then, for the purposes of this Division, in relation to the person to whom the compensation is payable or is to be paid, the following paragraphs have effect: (c) a reference to the lump sum preclusion period is a reference to the period that would represent the lump sum preclusion period if the compensation were paid in accordance with the liability or determination; (d) a reference to the periodic payments period is a reference to the period that would represent the periodic payments period if the compensation were paid in accordance with the liability or determination.
