Section 500I — Social Security Act 1991: Parenting payment not payable if payment rate nil

(1) Subject to subsection (2), a parenting payment is not payable to a person if the person’s parenting payment rate would be nil. (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person if the person’s rate would be nil merely because: (a) an election by the person under subsection 915A(1) (about quarterly energy supplement) or 1061VA(1) (about quarterly pension supplement) is in force; or (b) the person has been paid an advance pharmaceutical allowance under the social security law.
