Section 183 — Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986: President and Deputy President

(1) The Governor-General shall appoint one of the commissioners to be the President and another commissioner to be the Deputy President. (2) The commissioner appointed to be the President or the Deputy President holds office as President or Deputy President until the expiration of the term of office that is current or commences at the time of his or her appointment, but ceases to be the President or Deputy President if the commissioner ceases to be a commissioner or resigns the office of President or Deputy President in accordance with subsection (3). (3) The commissioner appointed to be the President or the Deputy President may resign the office of President or Deputy President by writing signed by the commissioner and delivered to the Governor-General. (4) A commissioner is eligible to be re-appointed as the President or Deputy President.
