Section 56N — Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986: Changes to payments by computer

If: (a) payment to a person of a service pension, income support supplement or a veteran payment is based upon data in a computer; and (b) the rate of the pension, supplement or payment is increased or reduced, or the pension, supplement or payment is cancelled or suspended, because of the operation of a computer program approved by the Commission; and (c) the program causes the change for a reason for which the Commission could determine the change; the change is taken to have been made because of a determination by the Commission for that reason. Note: This section does not apply where: (a) an automatic termination is produced by section 56 or 56A; or (b) an automatic rate reduction is produced by section 56B.
