48 Processing application for building consent (1) A building consent authority must, within 20 working days after receiving an application for a building consent that complies with section 45 ,— (a) grant the application; or (b) refuse the application. (2) A building consent authority may, within the period specified in subsection (1) , require further reasonable information in respect of the application, and, if it does so, the period is suspended until it receives that information. (3) In deciding whether to grant or refuse an application for a building consent, the building consent authority must have regard to— (a) a memorandum provided by the New Zealand Fire Service Commission under section 47 (if any); and (b) whether a building method or product to which a current warning or ban under section 26(2) relates will, or may, be used or applied in the building work to which the building consent relates.
