Section 294 — Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989: Demerit points

294 Demerit points Where— (a) A charge against a young person is proved before a Youth Court; and (b) The offence is such that, if the offender were convicted in a District Court, the New Zealand Transport Agency would be obliged under section 88 of the Land Transport Act 1998 to record demerit points in respect of the offender,— the young person is, unless the information is discharged under section 282 of this Act, deemed, for the purposes of sections 88 to 91 of the Land Transport Act 1998 and of any regulations made under section 167(1)(g) of that Act, to have been convicted of that offence, and the provisions of those sections of that Act and those regulations apply accordingly with all necessary modifications. Section 294(b): amended, on 1 August 2008, by section 50(1) of the Land Transport Management Amendment Act 2008 (2008 No 47). Paragraph (b) was amended, as from 1 December 2004, by section 19(1) Land Transport Management Amendment Act 2004 (2004 No 97) by omitting “ Safety ” .
