Section 14 — Citizenship Act 1977: Applications made under British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Act 1948 may be proceeded with under this Act

14 Applications made under British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Act 1948 may be proceeded with under this Act If a person has, before the commencement of this Act,— (a) Applied for registration as a New Zealand citizen; or (b) Given notice of his intention to apply for a certificate of naturalisation; or (c) Applied for a certificate of naturalisation—
in accordance with the provisions of the British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Act 1948, the application (if it has not been finally determined under that Act) or notice may be dealt with in accordance with this Act as if it were an application for the grant of New Zealand citizenship under this Act.
