Section 37 — Companies Act 1993: Types of shares

37 Types of shares (1) Subject to the constitution of the company, different classes of shares may be issued in a company. (2) Without limiting subsection (1) of this section, shares in a company may— (a) Be redeemable within the meaning of section 68 of this Act; or (b) Confer preferential rights to distributions of capital or income; or (c) Confer special, limited, or conditional voting rights; or (d) Not confer voting rights. Subsection (2)(a) was substituted, as from 1 July 1994, by section 5 Companies Act 1993 Amendment Act 1994 (1994 No 6).
