21 Additional powers of Judges (1) A Judge has the same powers and may make the same orders in relation to a proceeding pending before the court as a Judge of the High Court in chambers in a similar proceeding. (2) Despite subsection (1), an interim injunction restraining a party to a proceeding (whether domiciled, resident, or present in New Zealand) from removing from New Zealand, or otherwise dealing with, assets in New Zealand is the only interlocutory injunction in the nature of a freezing order that a Judge may grant. (3) A Judge has no power to make a search order. (4) Subsection (3) does not limit the power of a Judge to make an order for the detention, custody, or preservation of property.
