Section 172 — Employment Relations Act 2000: Temporary appointments

172 Temporary appointments (1) The Governor-General may from time to time, on the recommendation of the Minister, appoint 1 or more temporary members of the Authority to hold office for such period as may be specified in the instrument of appointment. (2) The period so specified may not exceed 12 months; but any person appointed under this section may from time to time be reappointed. (3) A person so appointed has all the powers of a member. (4) Every person appointed as a temporary member of the Authority under this section is, during the term of that member's appointment, to be paid, on a per diem basis,— (a) such salary, payable pursuant to section 171 to a member of the Authority, as the Governor-General directs; and (b) The allowances to which that person would be entitled if that person held office under section 166(1) .
