Section 22 — Family Proceedings Act 1980: Grounds for separation order

22 Grounds for separation order In proceedings for a separation order, a Family Court shall make the order if it is satisfied that there is a state of disharmony between the parties to the marriage or civil union of such a nature that it is unreasonable to require the parties to continue, or, as the case may be, to resume, cohabitation with each other. Compare: 1968 No 62 s 19(1)(a); 1971 No 59 s 2 Section 22 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 44(1) Civil Union Act 2004 (2004 No 102) by inserting the words “ or civil union ” after the word “ marriage ” .
