Section 29 — Family Proceedings Act 1980: Application for order declaring marriage or civil union void

29 Application for order declaring marriage or civil union void An application for an order declaring a marriage or civil union to be void ab initio (whether or not the marriage or civil union is governed by New Zealand law) may be made only— (a) Where the applicant or the respondent is domiciled or resident in New Zealand at the time of the filing of the application; or (b) Where the marriage or civil union was solemnised in New Zealand. Compare: 1963 No 71 s 6 The heading to section 29 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 44(1) Civil Union Act 2004 (2004 No 102) by inserting the words “ or civil union ” after the word “ marriage ” . Section 29 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 44(1) Civil Union Act 2004 (2004 No 102) by inserting the words “ or civil union ” after the word “ marriage ” wherever it appears.
