Section 5 — Family Proceedings Act 1980: Marriage or civil union guidance or counselling organisations

5 Marriage or civil union guidance or counselling organisations (1) The Minister of the Crown who is responsible for the Department for Courts may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette , approve any body of persons (whether incorporated or unincorporated) as a marriage or civil union guidance organisation or counselling organisation for the purposes of this Act. (2) Any approved marriage or civil union guidance organisation or counselling organisation may nominate any person to act as a counsellor under this Act. Compare: 1968 No 62 s 2 The heading to section 5 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 44(1) Civil Union Act 2004 (2004 No 102) by inserting the words “ or civil union ” after the word “ marriage ” . Section 5 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 44(1) Civil Union Act 2004 (2004 No 102) by inserting the words “ or civil union ” after the word “ marriage ” in both places it appears. Subsection (1) was amended, as from 1 July 1995, by section 10(1) Department of Justice (Restructuring) Act 1995 (1995 No 39) by substituting the words “ Minister of the Crown who is responsible for the Department for Courts ” for the words “ Minister of Justice ” .
