59 Offences relating to parentage tests Every person commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 who, for the purpose of the providing of a blood sample or buccal sample for a parentage test, the results of which that person knows are intended to be used in any civil proceedings in which the natural parentage of a child is in issue,— (a) Personates any other person; or (b) With intent to deceive, proffers a child that is not the child whose natural parentage is in issue in the proceedings. The heading to section 59 was amended, as from 1 July 2005, by section 150 Care of Children Act 2004 (2004 No 90) by substituting the word “ parentage ” for the word “ blood ” . Section 59 was amended, as from 1 July 2005, by section 150 Care of Children Act 2004 (2004 No 90) by inserting the words “ or buccal sample ” after the word “ sample ” . Section 59 was amended, as from 1 July 2005, by section 150 Care of Children Act 2004 (2004 No 90) by substituting the word “ parentage ” for the word “ blood ” in the second place where it occurs.
