Section 9 — Family Proceedings Act 1980: Requests for counselling

9 Requests for counselling (1) Either party to a marriage, civil union, or de facto relationship may request a Registrar of a Family Court to arrange counselling in respect of the marriage, civil union, or de facto relationship. (2) Where a request has been made to a Registrar of a Family Court under subsection (1) of this section, the Registrar shall, on the completion by the person making the request of the prescribed form, arrange for the matter to be referred to a counsellor. (3) [Repealed] Compare: 1968 No 62 s 14 Subsection (1) was amended, as from 1 July 2005, by section 149 Care of Children Act 2004 (2004 No 90) by inserting the words “ , civil union, or de facto relationship ” after the word “ marriage ” in both places where it appears. Subsection (3) was amended, as from 1 April 1989, by section 86(1) Public Finance Act 1989 (1989 No 44) by substituting the word “ public ” for the words “ the Consolidated Account from ” . Subsection (3) was repealed, as from 1 July 1994, by section 3 Family Proceedings Amendment Act 1994 (1994 No 32).
