Section 124 — Immigration Act 2009: Purpose of Part

124 Purpose of Part The purpose of this Part is to provide a statutory basis for the system by which New Zealand— (a) determines to whom it has obligations under the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees; and (b) codifies certain obligations, and determines to whom it has these obligations, under— (i) the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment: (ii) the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
