Section 243 — Land Transfer Act 1952: Personal liability

243 Personal liability (1) Neither the Registrar nor any delegate of the Registrar is personally liable for any act done or omitted in the performance or exercise or intended performance or exercise of a duty or power vested in the Registrar or a duty or power that the person believes on reasonable grounds to be vested in the Registrar, by this or any other Act. (2) No person who held an office under this Act before the commencement of the Land Transfer (Automation) Amendment Act 1998 is personally liable for any act done or omitted in the performance or exercise or intended performance or exercise of a duty or power vested in that office, or a duty or power that the person believed on reasonable grounds was vested in the office by this or any other Act. Section 243 was substituted, as from 1 February 1999, by section 42 Land Transfer (Automation) Amendment Act 1998 (1998 No 123).
