Section 214 — Privacy Act 2020: Regulations: prescribed countries

214 Regulations: prescribed countries (1) The Governor-General may, by Order in Council made on the recommendation of the responsible Minister given after consultation with the Commissioner, make regulations prescribing countries for the purpose of IPP 12(1)(e). (2) The Minister may recommend the making of regulations under subsection (1) only if the Minister is satisfied that the countries have privacy laws that, overall, provide comparable safeguards to those in this Act. (3) A country may be prescribed subject to any specified limitation or qualification relating to— (a) the type of foreign person or entity in that country that personal information may be disclosed to: (b) the type of personal information that may be disclosed to a foreign person or entity in that country.
