Section 237 — Property Law Act 2007: Effect of payment by lessee to assignor of reversion

237 Effect of payment by lessee to assignor of reversion (1) This section applies to a lease if the lessor has transferred or assigned the reversion expectant on the lease. (2) A lessee who pays all or part of the rent or other amounts due under the lease to the transferor or assignor of that reversion is discharged to the extent of that payment if the lessee had no actual notice of the transfer or assignment. (3) For the purposes of subsection (2), the registration of a transfer of the reversion is not, in itself, actual notice to the lessee of the transfer, despite anything to the contrary in any other enactment.
