Section 5 — Property Law Act 2007: Meaning of certain references

5 Meaning of certain references (1) For the purposes of this Act, a person who acquires, claims, or derives title to property through another person includes a person— (a) to whom an estate or interest in land passes under section 41 of the Land Transfer Act 1952; and (b) who succeeds to the estate or interest in the land previously held by the other person, either directly or after the estate or interest has passed to 1 or more intermediate successors. (2) For the purposes of this Act, a will comes into operation on the death of the person who made the will. (3) For the purposes of this Act, an obligation that is not made in writing comes into operation at the time at which the obligation is entered into.
