Section 52 — Property (Relationships) Act 1976: Minors may apply without guardian ad litem

52 Minors may apply without guardian ad litem Notwithstanding any enactment or rule of law, a minor who is or has been married or in a civil union may bring, institute, or defend proceedings under this Act without a guardian ad litem or next friend, and every judgment or order of the Court under this Act shall be binding upon and may be enforced against such a minor as if he or she were of full age. Section 52 was amended, as from 26 April 2005, by section 3(4) Property (Relationships) Amendment Act 2005 (2005 No 19) by inserting the words “ or in a civil union ” after the word “ married ” .
