Section 202 — Resource Management Act 1991: Minister's obligations upon receipt of application

202 Minister's obligations upon receipt of application (1) After receipt of an application (and any further information required by the Minister) under section 201 and after making such inquiry in respect of the application as the Minister considers necessary, the Minister shall as soon as practicable either— (a) Appoint a special tribunal to hear and report on the application; or (b) Reject the application— and notify the applicant of his or her decision, and where the application is rejected, of his or her reasons for the rejection. (2) Before appointing a special tribunal under subsection (1)(a) , the Minister shall, where appropriate, consult with the Minister of Maori Affairs and the Minister of Conservation regarding the membership of the tribunal.
