Section 54B — Sentencing Act 2002: Sentence of intensive supervision

54B Sentence of intensive supervision (1) A court may sentence an offender to intensive supervision if— (a) the offender is convicted of an offence punishable by imprisonment; or (b) the offender is convicted of an offence and the enactment prescribing the offence expressly provides that a sentence of home detention may be imposed on conviction; or (c) the offender is convicted of an offence and the enactment prescribing the offence expressly provides that a community-based sentence may be imposed on conviction. (2) The sentence may be for a period, being not less than 6 months and not more than 2 years, that the court thinks fit. Section 54B: inserted, on 1 October 2007, by section 24 of the Sentencing Amendment Act 2007 (2007 No 27).
