Section 75 — Sentencing Act 2002: Commencement of community-based sentences

75 Commencement of community-based sentences (1) A community-based sentence commences on the day on which it is imposed. (2) Subsection (1) applies— (a) subject to sections 75A and 75B and to section 137 of the Summary Proceedings Act 1957 ; and (b) regardless of whether or not the sentence is imposed in substitution for another sentence. (2A) If the commencement date of a sentence of community work is deferred under section 57A , the sentence commences on the date specified in the order of the court.
