Section 427 — Social Security Act 2018: Regulations: funeral grants: amounts and methods of payment

427 Regulations: funeral grants: amounts and methods of payment (1) The Governor-General may, by Order in Council, make regulations for the purposes of section 90 . (2) Regulations made under subsection (1) may do all or any of the following: (a) specify the amount of, or how MSD must assess the amount of, a funeral grant: (b) specify the method or methods of making payments of funeral grants. (3) Regulations made under subsection (2)(a) may (without limitation) provide that the grant, for a person who meets the criteria in section 91 , 92 , or 93 , is of an amount, not exceeding a specified maximum amount, that MSD determines is appropriate to meet the deceased person’s reasonable funeral expenses.
