Section 24 — Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002: Provisional assistance

Provisional assistance 24 1 If the Secretary of State thinks that a person may be eligible for the provision of accommodation in an accommodation centre under section 17, he may arrange for the provision for the person, pending a decision about eligibility, of—

a accommodation in an accommodation centre, or b other support or assistance (of any kind).

2 Section 99 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (c. 33) (provision of support by local authority) shall have effect in relation to the provision of support for persons under subsection (1) above as it has effect in relation to the provision of support for asylum-seekers under sections 95 and 98 of that Act.
