Section 405 — Criminal Code: Acknowledging instrument in false name

Every person who, without lawful authority or excuse, acknowledges, in the name of another person before a court or a judge or other person authorized to receive the acknowledgment, a recognizance, undertaking, release order, confession of judgment, consent to judgment or judgment, deed or other instrument or act is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than five years; or an offence punishable on summary conviction.
