Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026. How we handle your data, in line with Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA).

1. Data we collect

VadeLab's Canada pages are public research pages β€” no account or sign-in is required. The only personal data we collect directly is the email address you give us if you join our waiting list to hear about the professional platform. We use it solely to notify you, and never share it with third parties. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

2. Case summaries and caching

To reduce cost and speed up responses, AI-generated summaries of judgments may be cached for up to 30 days, identified by a technical signature (hash) of the document. The cache stores only the generated summary, not the original document, and is automatically cleared after 30 days.

3. Published case law and anonymization

The judgments in our collection come from official, public sources. On our public pages (accessible without sign-in), the names of parties are anonymized to protect the privacy of the individuals involved. The anonymized text and summary are what is shown publicly. This anonymization is performed by an automated process, complemented by human review as part of our quality checks. In some cases, our reviewers determine that a detail is not personally identifying and does not need to be removed (for example, a public official named in their official capacity). Even so, this process is not infallible β€” on rare occasions personal information can slip through. If you find personal information on a case page that should have been removed, please let us know and we will review and remove it as a priority.

4. Cookies and advertising

We use only the cookies necessary for the site to function. If advertising is enabled on a page, it may be served by a third-party network (such as Google AdSense), which can set its own cookies for ad delivery and, where permitted, personalization, under that provider's own privacy policy.

5. We do not use your data to train AI models

Your searches and any data you provide are never used to train AI models. The system uses third-party models (such as Google Gemini) only to process requests in real time, under those providers' own data-processing terms.

6. Your rights (PIPEDA)

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask us at any time to access, correct or erase any personal data we hold about you (for example, your waiting-list email address). We respond to requests within 30 days. To exercise these rights, write to contact@vadelab.com. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), Canada's federal privacy regulator.

7. Security

We use infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Access to any data we hold is restricted and authenticated. Despite these measures, no system is entirely immune to incidents β€” please report any suspected issue to us.

8. Retention

Waiting-list email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Case-summary caches are kept for 30 days and then automatically removed.

9. Who is responsible for your data

VadeLab is the organization responsible for the personal data described in this policy. For any question about privacy or data handling: contact@vadelab.com. This policy forms part of our Terms of Use.
